911 For America

I was going to write this wonderful, thought provoking, emotional, and hopefully intellectually moving reason why September 11, 2001 happened, and shall never be forgotten. The first time blood has been spilled on our soil, in the name of warfare, since The Civil War. Then I read several essays, and editorials about how, in the history of our country, it is compared to President Kennedy's assassination, Pearl Harbor, etc. None of which I disagreed with, and even admire the writer's passion. However, after reading those descriptions I decided to simply say, The hell with it. And, hopefully, literally, to hell with the cowardly terrorist who committed this horrific act, and declared war upon the United States, in the name of their God.
Can anyone fathom twenty-five years ago someone could come into our country and declare war; killing how many people? Bringing the country to almost a complete standstill. Don't tell me we have not been decaying from within. The time has come for Americans to stand up and take back their country, or you are going to wake up one morning and find it gone. If we truly are a nation formed with God's blessing, and believe in fair play, it is time as a country we rebuild our moral character and stand tall. This is not a complicated issue. There is right, and there is wrong. There is good, and there is evil. Supposedly, it was a fundamental trait in our country's character to know the difference, and act it out accordingly.
Now, as Americans, what are we going to do? Will we go on with business as usual as soon as the twenty-four hour television coverage is finished? Will we continue to sit back and watch the morality of what once was a great country spiral downward? As Americans, and residents in the greatest country in the world, I suggest we get off our collected backsides and get involved!
Everyone knows the figures. Less than fifty per-cent of the eligible voting public elects our political leaders. Now we are on the threshold of either losing our country, or finally turning it around and perhaps become the beacon again for Democracy. How sad for us as a nation that the men and women who ultimately will make this decision were not elected with the true majority of the population. Who is at fault for that?
We have allowed ourselves to come to a time where money and power, must approve, and then watch over the written word, not integrity, or self-reliance in truth, honor, and the betterment of mankind as a whole. Perhaps one day this will change; although it is written on our legal tender, in God we trust, though as a people, we seem to have reached the point where we place more value on the numerical number on the bill. However, when I watch those firemen, policemen, and dedicated volunteers in New York, working their fingers to the bone, all praying to find just one survivor, I have renewed hope for us as a nation.
So, as an American, I shall continue to hope, and pray, that September 11, 2001 is America's 911 call, and not just another interruption in our race toward world class mediocrity. And, if that can come to pass, behind a leader that rises to the occasion, it will give great meaning to those souls that were killed, and create a rebirthing of an ideology that can not be destroyed by greed, or any crazed madman. Then indeed, God does bless America!
