The Colors of The Threshold

( red for black gives you green)

I would like to preface my opinion with revealing that I am not a far left Liberal, or a right wing Conservative.  I am simply an Independent American that believes if attacked by a country, or a group of radicals, I am for defending this country to the death, if need be. And, if that includes killing millions of people with a nuke to protect our way of life--so be it!  However, as anti-Americanism grows in the world I find myself questioning the righteous belief in the morality of our times.  The God fearing people that stand tall and feel they are fighting the evils of a predestined culture would appear to me doing it wearing a blindfold.  How can one justify the killing of young men in the name of “freedom,” for a country that doesn’t understand the responsibility of the word?

Having lived through the Viet Nam debacle and now witnessing the Iraq war, and the everyday oiling of  Iraq’s free voting booths with young American blood I begin to question the sanity of it.  Young men, and now women in certain instances, have always died while older people, (usually males), sat back and pontificated on the price of freedom and the huge cost it will be if we as a country lose.  Names on the headstones change and the pontificators behind the huge desks, in their plush offices, change, but the colors of the thresholds remain the same; red blood for black equals the power of green.

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is not a private residence, nor is the House of Representatives, or the United States Senate.  The Oath taken by the people who reside in these sacred places should reflect a rainbow of colors and not allow what looks like an apparently successful formula of exchanging red for black, which gives some select few green.

There have been times in the past, and knowing man’s propensity to try to dominate one another there will undoubtedly be times in the future that brute force is called for.   The sacrificing of the heroic blood of the few will spill to serve the free flowing blood of the many.  This is not a pleasant moment, and in a perfect world would never be called upon to happen, however, WE are not perfect people and history, if nothing else continues to repeat itself.

Have we again arrived at a point in time that the essence of America is again being questioned?  Is it not true that the majority is supposed to rule in a democracy?  We have been taught that our leaders are supposed to listen to the "majority voice."  Are young men and women again dying in another country for a form of government that would apparently seem not to be working right here, i.e.; if the majority of people are against something why are we doing it?   Have we arrived again at a threshold in this country?  What is acceptable to cross this threshold—the sacrifice of the majority and accepting the formula that red for black gives you green is a distinct possibility?
